William “Bill” T. Douglas, 74, of Green, passed away on June 3rd after a long battle with ataxia. Bill was born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 30, 1944 to the late John and Mary (Novak) Douglas.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Robert and Gertrude Turner, uncle John Sunseri, niece and goddaughter Leslie Frye, and beloved granddog Dexter. To carry on his memory are his loving wife of 42 years Jennifer, daughter Katy (Anthony) Benedetto, brother Don (Maxine) Douglas, sisters Barbara Douglas and Eileen Libens, brother-in-law Tom (Deb) Turner, aunt Sue Sunseri, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and close friends Nick Celetti and Joe and Di Bendo.
Bill’s friendliness, laughter, and quick wit charmed those around him, leading to a long and successful career as a car salesman; he never met a stranger in his life. His family was his first great love, and his enjoyment of life was so visible in his passion for outdoor adventures, photography, travel (especially with Jen behind him on the motorcycle), music (particularly classic rock, which Katy happily inherited), cooking (mainly ribs, a duty Anthony has lovingly assumed), and a zealous enthusiasm for racing and all things cars.
Bill’s wishes were to have his ashes laid to rest in all of the places he loved the most; cremation has already taken place. A service to celebrate his vibrant life will take place on Friday, June 7, 2019 at 12pm at Family of Faith UMC: 800 East Market, Akron, OH 44305. Friends may call on Friday from 11am until the time of service, and lunch and sharing to follow. Should you desire, donations may be made to another of Bill’s favorite places- the Akron Zoo: 500 Edgewood Ave, Akron, OH 44307 or www.akronzoo.org/give-to-the-zoo
